Overview of the gaming machine Penguin City from Yggdrasil

Introduction

Penguin City is a bright and unusual video slot from the Swedish developer Yggdrasil, released on July 24, 2018. The game is set in a multi-layered style with a fun story: the player helps a penguin escape from the clutches of the evil Emperor-penguin, who keeps them in the 'kitchen' under lock and key. The slot features low volatility, high RTP, and original bonus mechanics.

Key features of the Penguin City slot

1. Mechanics 'All ways to win' (243 ways).
2. Low volatility.
3. RTP 96.2%.
4. Unique bonus mode 'Penguin Escape' (Penguin Escape Mode).
5. The wild symbol of the Emperor with guaranteed respins.
6. Maximum win — up to €205,875 or 1647× the bet.

Design and atmosphere

Penguin City impresses with its bright and friendly graphics. The game field is styled like a restaurant kitchen with running penguins, packing machines, and a comic villain — the Emperor. The animations are smooth, the characters are emotional and lively. The sound accompaniment enhances the atmosphere: cheerful music, chirping birds, and sounds of kitchen chaos create a sense of participation in a multi-plicational adventure. The overall impression is light, positive, and perfectly suitable for both beginners and experienced players.

Characteristics and symbols

Parameter table

Payouts for combinations (5 symbols)

1. Symbol 'Utkа' — 70× the bet.
2. Symbol 'Ryba' — 50× the bet.
3. Symbol 'Morkov' — 40× the bet.
4. Symbol 'Serdce (A)' — 25× the bet.
5. Symbol 'Pika (K)' — 20× the bet.
6. Other card symbols (Q, J, 10) pay less — from 5× to 15× the bet for five matches.

Bonus functions and unique mechanics

Penguin City does not offer traditional free spins, but compensates for this with two unique modes:

• Penguin Escape Mode activates on any win. On each spin, one penguin tries to 'escape'. If the run is successful, Sticky Wilds appear on 2nd and/or 4th reels, which stay in place during respins.
• Stacked Emperor Wild — a stacked wild symbol of the Emperor, covering the entire third reel. It guarantees wins and is released on one position with each spin, while the full stack does not leave the field. Each of its steps is accompanied by a respin.

Risk-games and multipliers in the classic sense are absent, but bonus respins and Sticky Wilds significantly increase the winning potential.

Expert opinions and recommendations

Penguin City is an excellent choice for players who prefer frequent, but moderate wins. Thanks to the low volatility and high RTP (96.2%), the slot is ideal for lengthy gaming sessions without risking large amounts.

Strategies for maximizing winnings

• Play at medium or maximum bets (€1 to €25) to increase the potential of bonus respins.
• Do not pre-bet with demo mode: study the frequency of Penguin Escape Mode activations and the behavior of Emperor Wild.
• Use automatic start with limited time or balance to not miss the beginning of the bonus mode.

Experts note that the slot is particularly advantageous when activating Emperor Wild — at this moment, you can receive a series of guaranteed wins.

Mathematical model

1. RTP: 96.2% — above the market average.
2. Volatility: low — small wins, but rarely big ones.
3. Chances to win: high thanks to 243 ways to win and bonus respins.
4. Maximum win: 1647× bets (up to €205,875 at maximum bet).

Compared to analogs

1. Taco Brothers Saving Christmas (NetEnt) — also has the theme of 'escape', but with medium volatility and free spins.
2. Fruit Shop (NetEnt) — low volatility and simple mechanics, but without original bonuses.
3. Berryburst (NetEnt) — 243 ways to win and Cluster Pays, but less saturated bonus system.

Penguin City features a uniquely designed respin mechanic that most competitors do not have.

Mobile version

Slot fully adapted for mobile devices. Thanks to HTML5 technology and iSENSE 2.0+ engine, the game displays correctly on smartphones and tablets running iOS and Android without loss of graphics quality or loading speed.
