Review of the gaming machine Loki's Riches from Pragmatic Play: the secrets of the god of deception

Introduction

Loki's Riches — this is a high-volatility video slot from the studio Pragmatic Play, released on January 25, 2024. The machine is dedicated to the scandalous Scandinavian deity Loki and offers players a chance to win up to 10,000x the bet on a 7x7 cluster payout system.

Key features of the slot

1. Grid 7×7 with Cluster Pays mechanics.
2. High volatility.
3. RTP by default — 96.04%.
4. Maximum win — 10,000x.
5. Bonus spins with expanding symbol.
6. Tumble function (cascading payouts).

Design and atmosphere

Loki's Riches immerses the player in the mystical world of Scandinavian mythology. The font is rendered in dark tones with shimmering green accents, reminiscent of Loki's magic. In the foreground — a massive 7x7 grid, surrounded by runes and ancient symbols. Animations upon wins are bright and dynamic, while the sound accompaniment includes epic orchestration with elements of Nordic music. The overall impression is modern, atmospheric, and visually rich.

Characteristics and symbols

Parameter table

Payouts for combinations (for a cluster of 5+ symbols)

Payouts are indicated in fractions of the total bet:

1. Golden Loki (higher symbol) — up to 2x for 5 symbols.
2. Golden ring — up to 1x for 5 symbols.
3. Mallet Tora — up to 0.8x for 5 symbols.
4. Shield — up to 0.6x for 5 symbols.
5. Runic stones (low symbols) — up to 0.2–0.4x for 5 symbols.

Larger clusters (10+, 15+, 25+) significantly increase payouts — for example, 25+ symbols of Golden Loki can bring up to 10,000x.

Bonus functions and unique mechanics

• Tumble (cascades): after each winning combination, symbols disappear, and new ones fall from above, creating potential for a chain of wins.
• Free Spins (free spins): activated on landing 4+ Scatter symbols. Gives 10 free spins. For each additional Scatter — +1 spin.
• Special Expanding Symbol: at the beginning of the bonus round, a random paying symbol is chosen as expanding. It can occupy the entire vertical line on each spin, increasing the chances for large clusters.
• Buy Bonus: players can buy entry into the bonus for 100x the bet (available not in all jurisdictions).

There are no wild symbols in the game. Scatter is only used to activate the bonus.

Expert opinions and recommendations

Loki’s Riches — this is a typical slot from Pragmatic Play with verified mathematics and a simplified set of functions. Despite the absence of multipliers or progressive elements, the potential win of 10,000x makes it appealing for risk lovers.

Recommendations

• Play with the minimum bet in the base game to trigger a session.
• Use demo mode to understand the frequency of bonus activation.
• In free spins, the bet is fixed, so choose a comfortable size for entry.
• Avoid buying bonuses with a limited bankroll — ROI is not always justified.

Mathematical model

• RTP: 96.04% (standard), but it can decrease to 94.04% depending on the operator's casino.
• Volatility: high — indicates rare, but potentially large wins.
• Chances of winning:
  • Large clusters (10+ symbols) are rarely encountered in the base game.
  • Most payouts come from low symbols.
  • Bonus spins — the main source of large wins.
  • Theoretical maximum win (10,000x) is possible only with a formation of a cluster of 25+ symbols of Golden Loki.

Compared to analogs

1. Gates of Olympus (Pragmatic Play): also 6x5, Cluster Pays, multipliers up to 500x, but no more frequent bonuses.
2. Gemix (Play’n GO): 7x7 grid, similar mechanics to Tumble, but without free spins and with a different approach to bonuses.
3. Cash Chips (Pragmatic Play): analogous volatility and RTP, but with a collection mechanic instead of clusters.
