Review of the Congo Cash slot machine from Pragmatic Play: jungles, jackpots, and Jewel Board

Introduction

The Congo Cash slot machine from Pragmatic Play (in collaboration with Wild Streak Gaming) was released in January 2021 and immediately attracted attention with its unconventional approach to bonus functions. The slot transports the player to dense African jungles, where you can collect classic combinations and win one of three fixed jackpots or get up to 100 free spins.

Key features of the slot

1. Unique Jewel Board mechanics above the barrels.
2. Three levels of fixed jackpots (Minor, Major, Grand).
3. High volatility and RTP above average.
4. Up to 100 free spins for one launch.
5. Maximum payout — up to 5500x the bet.

Design and atmosphere

Congo Cash is filled with a bright, rich color palette, characteristic of tropical themes. The barrels are arranged in an unusual format 4-3-3-3-4, creating a sense of depth and dynamics. The graphics are detailed: animals (gorilla, leopard, mandrill) look lively and expressive. The sound accompaniment includes African rhythms and jungle sounds, enhancing immersion. Overall, the slot produces an impression of high-quality, modern product with a thoughtful atmosphere.

Payouts for combinations of 5 symbols (at maximum bet)

1. Gorilla (senior symbol): up to 1000x bets.
2. Leopard: up to 75x bets.
3. Mandrill: up to 40x bets.
4. Lemur: up to 20x bets.
5. Letters (A, K, Q, J, 10): up to 10–15x bets.

Bonus functions and unique mechanics

• The main feature of Congo Cash — Jewel Board, located above 2–4 barrels. On it, in each spin, random patterns appear with precious stones attached to them as prizes:
  • Cash prizes: from 5x to 200x total bets.
  • Fixed jackpots: Minor (25x), Major (100x), Grand (2000x).
  • Free spins: from 8 to 100.
• To activate the prize with Jewel Board, you need to simultaneously get one on the barrels:
  • Butterfly symbol (on the 1st or 5th barrel).
  • Congo Cash symbol (on any barrel).
  • If both symbols appear in one spin, the corresponding prize with Jewel Board is activated on those barrels where Congo Cash dropped.
• Wild symbol (diamond): substitutes for all regular symbols except Butterfly and Congo Cash. Appears on all barrels.
• Scatter symbol is absent in the classical sense; its role is fulfilled by the combination of Butterfly + Congo Cash.
• Risk game is not provided.

Expert opinions and recommendations

Congo Cash — this is a slot for players ready for long sessions with rare, but potentially large wins. The slot is well suited for those who value non-standard mechanics and the ability to hit jackpots even with a small bet.

Due to high volatility, it is recommended.

• Start with minimum bets to study the frequency of Jewel Board activations.
• Have enough bankroll (at least 200–300 spins).
• Do not expect frequent payouts on lines — the main potential lies in bonus prizes.
• Use the demo-mode for testing strategies without risk.

Mathematical model

• RTP: 96.51% — this is above average, making the slot profitable in the long term.
• Volatility: high — wins are rare, but they can be very large.
• Chances of winning:
  • The frequency of bonus activations depends on the appearance of the pair of symbols Butterfly + Congo Cash.
  • Theoretical chance of hitting the Grand Jackpot (2000x) is extremely low, but possible on any spin.
  • Free spins (especially 50–100) significantly increase session potential.
  • Main payouts on lines compensate for base losses between bonuses.

Compared to analogs

1. Great Rhino Megaways (Pragmatic Play): also high volatility, but uses the Megaways system instead of Jewel Board.
2. Mustang Gold (Pragmatic Play): similar structure with fixed jackpots, but without the mechanics of the Jewel Board.
3. Hot Safari (Pragmatic Play): similar theme and presence of cash symbols, but different bonus activation system.

Mobile version

Congo Cash is fully adapted for mobile devices. HTML5 technology ensures smooth operation on smartphones and tablets running iOS and Android. All interface elements scale correctly, and the Jewel Board remains readable even on smaller screens. The auto-play works without downloading — just a sufficient browser and internet connection.

Pros and cons

3. High RTP (96.51%).

Locking

Congo Cash — this is a fresh take on the video slot genre with jackpots. Thanks to the Jewel Board, the game does not lose interest even in the base game, as each spin can bring unexpected prizes. The combination of high RTP, large maximum wins, and quality formatting makes it worthy of attention.

Overall rating: 8.5/10
